They have a looped pieced of sandpaper fitted around two wheels, which spin the sandpaper around at a very fast speed. Some examples of times to use a belt sander would be removing lots of old paint or stain, basically preparing a surface for more detailed work by removing the old. Palm Sanders

It vibrates in a somewhat circular pattern, and must be moved along the wood in the same circular motion to avoid scratching. Detail Sanders

Detail sanders (sometimes called a contour sander) are smaller than other handheld sanders, and are used for getting into tight spaces and sanding odd shapes that other sanders cannot handle. The pad is usually triangle shaped, but many of these sanders come with multiple attachments to aid in reaching even the smallest of spaces. These tools are usually used for small craft projects and even mill working, such as window and door casings.

Random Orbit Sanders

Random orbit sanders are probably the most versatile sanders around. They are great for jobs big and small, and they are small enough to get into most tight spaces. These sanders have a round pad that moves in a circular motion, with a little bit of random variation to prevent swirl marks on your piece. They also feature variable speed control, which is great when you are working with soft wood, or you are getting to the end of your sandpaper. How to Remove Paint From Your Clothing

We all know that paint is not easy to get out of clothing and that it's best to wear old clothes when we are working on a do-it-yourself project. Every now and then, however, we get caught up in the moment and don't want to be bothered changing our clothes. We think, "this time we'll be neat!" only to find out we're as messy as always! Or, we may have an occasion to bump into someone else's DIY project and walk away with artwork on our clothing. Don't despair; it isn't always fatal to your favorite pair of pants. Here is what you can and cannot do to rescue your shirt.

LATEX OR OIL

The first thing to do is determine whether the paint is oil or latex. If you don't know, it will say on the can. If it is Latex paint, your chances of removing it completely are good. Latex paint is a water based product and therefore washable with water. If you are able to get the article of clothing to a source of water before it dries you will be able to wash the paint right out. Hold the spot under a strong stream of luke warm running water and just let it flush the paint out of the fibers. Rub it lightly and gently if to break up the paint if necessary. Most fabrics should be treated gently to avoid damaging the fibers.

Water will not work with oil paint and will only cause it to become gummy. A paint thinner is needed to cut the oil and must be used before the paint is dry. The problem with paint thinner is that it can take the color out of some types of fabrics. Test the fabric first by rubbing thinner on a piece of the fabric that does not show, such as an inside seam. There are new thinners available that are low odor and less expensive than the petroleum based products most of us are familiar with, but work just as well.

WET OR DRY

It is possible to have good results in removing either latex or oil from your clothing while the paint is wet. The longer it sits, however, and the dryer it becomes, the more difficult the process. One of the best solvents available on the market is Krud Kutter, a cleaning product you can find at your local paint store or a home improvement store such as Lowe's or Home Depot. This product is gentle on clothing and will remove partially dried latex paint very effectively. Spray it on the spot, let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse. Repeat this step as many times as necessary to remove the paint completely. Krud Kutter will have little to no effect on dried oil based paint and truthfully, there isn't much that will.

So if it's not been one of your best days and you happen to get paint on your favorite sweater, don't procrastinate. Take the steps suggested above as quickly as possible before it dries and chances are good you will be able to wear it paint free another day. Once twenty four hours have passed, it's time to get a new sweater and chalk it up to experience.

Tips When Using The Work Sharp WS2000 Tool Sharpener

The Work Sharp WS2000 is a "must have" for every hobbyist and do-it-yourselfer. It has a number of special features which make sharpening easier. Here are a few tips for anyone using the WS2000.

1. The WS2000 has a horizontal sharpening/grinding wheel rather than a vertical wheel like many bench sharpeners/grinders have. Horizontal wheels provide their users with more control and also a larger sharpening/grinding area so take advantage of it. Example: For a putty knife, lay the putty knife's blade on the right side of the wheel and then keeping the blade flat on the wheel, pull the blade back toward you. Use the same procedure to clean/sharpen the other side of the tool's blade. NOTE: Be sure and sharpen your tools only on the right side of the wheel; otherwise you may tear/damage the abrasive disk on the wheel.

2. When using the Chisel Port to sharpen a chisel that is 1 5/8" or less in size. Be sure and place the chisel under the tool hold-down bar, flat against the bottom of the port, and on the right side of the port's alignment fence. Move the fence over against the chisel's left side and tighten down the fence using the fence knob. Keeping the chisel flat, push it into the port with light pressure for no more than one second and then pull it out. Continue using this push in/pull out approach until your chisel is sharp.

3. When freehand sharpening a tool or blade on the topside wheel, make use of the Top Tool Rest as much as you can. Using the tool rest gives you better control over your tool as you sharpen/grind it and also relieves some of the stress on your hands, arms, and shoulders. Remember that you can adjust the tool rest up and down to set it at the desired height.

4. Always wear safety glasses/goggles and ear protection when using any tool sharpener/grinder.

5. Periodically clean the sharpener to remove any sharpening/grinding debris that has accumulated. A small dry paint brush works well. Failing to remove this debris can cause some of the tool sharpener's components to wear prematurely.

6. If you have kids, be sure and make use of the removable "lock-out" key. Whenever you are not using your WS2000 tool sharpener, remove the lock-out key from the off/on power switch and keep the lock-out key in a separate place. Until you reinsert the lock-out key, the tool sharpener can't be turned on.

7. When putting an adhesive-backed abrasive disk on the wheel, it is important to make sure that the wheel is clean. Then, using both hands bend the abrasive disk into a "U" shape and match it up with the wheel's center hole. Next, flatten the abrasive disk against the wheel starting in the middle of the wheel and moving toward the outside of the wheel. When putting on slotted abrasives, make sure you align all of the slots on the abrasive with the slots in the wheel.

8. When sharpening/grinding, use the coarse grit first (if it is needed) and finish up with the fine grit.

9. Use the WS2000's bench mounting tabs to securely fasten the sharpener to your workbench. But, in doing so, use removable bolts or screws so that if you need to use the tool sharpener someplace else you can remove the bolts/screws and take the sharpener with you.

10. When you need to sharpen a wood carving tool, use a permanent black marker to darken the edge that you need to sharpen. This will help you see the tool's edge through the sharpener's Edge-Vision Port. Start your sharpening at the heel of the bevel and gradually work toward the tool's cutting edge. You can see what part of the tool is being sharpened by looking to see where the black marker coloring is being removed. If you need to increase your visibility when using the Edge-Vision Port just remove the tool rest.

11. When sharpening large tools like shovels or hoes, remove the tool rest from the sharpener to give you more working space.

Power and Precision
The PC250MTK runs on 120-volt electrical power and delivers 10,000–20,000 oscillations per minute (OPM) by way of a high-torque 2.5-amp motor that can handle almost any jobsite application. The variable-speed unit has an oscillation angle of 2.8 degrees and comes equipped with a 10-foot cord for easy jobsite maneuverability. The PC250MTK features a durable injection-molded kit box to help keep the tool and accessories organized and protected on and around the jobsite.

Tool-Free System
The unit incorporates contractor-driven innovation such as the patent-pending Tool-Free System accessory change, which gives professionals the ability to quickly and efficiently change the tool’s accessories without bolts, washers, and wrenches.
